Frequently Asked Questions
Which OBD2 adapters are compatible?
OBDrive works with Bluetooth (Classic) ELM327-based OBD2 adapters. We recommend the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+. Wi-Fi adapters are not supported.
My car doesn't show fuel consumption data — why?
Fuel rate (PID 015E) is not supported by all vehicles. If your car's ECU doesn't expose it, OBDrive will attempt to estimate consumption via MAF airflow. Some cars simply don't broadcast this data over OBD2.
How do I connect the OBD2 adapter?
Plug the adapter into your car's OBD2 port (usually under the dashboard). In OBDrive 1.3, open the Vehicle tab (previously called Workflow), which guides you through connecting, checking the vehicle and reviewing your setup — or tap Connect next to "Have an OBD adapter?" on the Drive screen. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
Can I use OBDrive without an OBD2 adapter?
Yes. Tap Start a drive on the Drive screen and OBDrive records distance, duration, live speed and your full route using your iPhone alone. Engine readings and measured fuel consumption need a compatible OBD2 adapter.
What is OBDrive Pro?
OBDrive Pro unlocks your full trip history (the free plan keeps your 10 most recent trips), the combined routes map on the Map tab, route replay with hard-event markers, trends over time, and stored fault-code reading. GPS trip recording, the speedometer, trip recaps, Eco score and the Lock Screen widget are free.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Go to Profile → Subscription → Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Why does a trip show no fuel figure at all?
Since 1.3, trips with missing or partial fuel data are marked unavailable rather than shown as zero consumption. A genuine measured zero is still kept, and fuel totals and records are calculated only from trips with enough data.
Why is my route missing from the map tab?
Each individual drive's route is available for free in your Drive history. The combined map that draws all of your recorded routes together, along with route replay, requires OBDrive Pro.
Why is the fuel price wrong for my country?
OBDrive fetches prices automatically based on your location. If the price seems off, you can update your profile's fuel type (diesel / gasoline) in the Profile tab.
Is my data stored in the cloud?
Trip data is stored locally on your device with optional iCloud sync. We do not store your location or drive data on our servers.
